Little while ago I was talking to a buddy of mine about Republic Commando. I asked if he was running in a weird wide screen resolution like mine. I run it in 1680 by 1050. Turns out he was, lucky for him I had a solution.

Here is a quick guide how to set custom resolutions and Fields of View for Star Wars: Republic commando.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In game graphical settings, such as anti-aliasing, must be set before you customize your resolution! If you try to change them after you have set it, it will default back to 640 by 480!

1# Go to the Republic commando folder, it should be in the directory : C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\star wars republic commando

2# Now open the folder, Gamedata/System

3# Find the file called ‘System.InI’, right click it and select ‘open with’, then choose Note/Word Pad

3# Note pad will open, and you will see the guts of the System.ini file. Press Control + F to activate the search function and type in “[WinDrv.WindowsClient]“. Capitals do not matter, as long as you enter WinDrv.Windows it should find the section we are looking for. But not the droids.

4# Scroll down until you see the following lines.

WindowedViewportX=1680

WindowedViewportY=1050

FullscreenViewportX=1680

FullscreenViewportY=1050

Change these to what ever resolution you are currently running.

5# Okay, next hit control + F again and type in “FOV”, this will bring you to a line that looks like this.

FovAngleDegrees=90.000000 Change the 90 to any number between 100 to 120. This will widen your field of vision and make the game look better.

6# Alright now save the system.ini, but don’t go just yet, we are not yet done.

7# Open the folder Gamedata/Save, and locate the file System.ini. Looks familiar? It should, its the same file as the first System.ini in the system folder. Proceed mirror the change you made to the first file, steps 3 though 6, and then save.

Remember there are TWO system.ini files that need to be edited in two separate directories. If they are not both identical this wont work.

There you are done, boot up Republic Commando and enjoy!

Alright, so I have a news update for you guys. First off you’ll notice that I redesigned the site once again. I think I’ve hit the right tone with it. It sort of looks like a menu from a Final Fantasy Game so, that’s solid.

Second, I’ve been trying to record a game of CoH 2 on 2 for Tips and Tricks 6. Now, the operative word in that sentence was ‘trying’.  Every time I’m ready to record I seem to run into problems. My partner and I either rock the enemy so hard it’s embarrassing or my partner disconnects thanks to his shitty internet. I’ll keep trying though, so keep your fingers crossed.

On a lighter note, I’ve got two games that I want to do a Glance At. The first is inFamous and would be a rather standard video. The second is Rainbow Six Vega’s online terrorist hunt component. The latter is a different kind of Glance At because it would require me to…

#1 have a co-ordinated group of players, and

#2: Have them record their dialog.

See, the largest problem with the idea of a cooperative Glance At is that we would all need to record audio while playing, a rather tricky prospect. Any ways, I’ll try to get something going on but no promises.

The last bit of news is that I’m looking into starting an endurance run, my primary candidate for this series of videos is the JRP Grandia 3. Sucks to be me though, as I can’t find it in stock any where I’ve looked.  Saw a few on craigslist, but you know how reliable that can be.

I’m also going to try my hand at writing another review, but only after some serious work on my fundamentals. I need to beef up my skill with the english language.

Every one has been asking for some British love, and so here they are. Afraid that this one is a bit short and less flashy than tips and tricks 4 but well…I made it quick like, don’t hate me.
