Your first look at Project ‘Red Jounry’

In my last news post I said mentioned two things that were kind of important. The first thing was a replay pack for Company of Heroes. I’m still working on it; it will be done by the end of this week. The second news worthy thing was a new project.

This other project (tentatively titled Red Journey) is a story driven web comic. For a long time now I’ve been meaning to start one up, but my life has been hectic. Anyhow, I figure there is not time like the present and I need to produce content to keep data-cube alive so here goes nothing.

Past the break I’ve posted a narrated video of me doing some character concept work on Red Journey. Check it out and tell me what you think!

News! Renovations, I need your feedback

Hey guys , I’m going to be making a few aesthetic changes to Data Cube in the near future. First on the hit list is a logo for the site. It’s a project I’ve worked on in the past but haven’t really succeeded in completing. So making that logo is high priority for me.

The second thing I’m going to be working on is improving the general site design. Things like type facing, features and such. This is an area where I need your feedback. If you have any design recommendations or requests please post a comment below! If you have any problems with the site please say so, I need to know about those kinds of things in order to fix them. I’m always looking to improve the browsing experience of my site and feedback is essential to that process.

Just as a brief aside, I’m planning on releasing a Company of Heroes replay pack in a few days. It’s going to be about 5 to 10 games in size and one of them is going to become the next Tips and Tricks. Basically I’ll post the pack and then hold a user vote. Whichever game has the majority of votes will become the next Tips and Tricks. Of course I can’t do it first person play style, it’s a replay after all, but I can document my strategy and tactics. Should be cool, I’ll keep you posted.

One final bit of news, I’m going to be starting a web comic. I’ve tried making them in the past, mostly as art projects, but they’ve never really taken off. This time I think I’ve got a pretty solid idea to work with and the time necessary to produce it. It’s most likely going to be a full page once a week style job. Full color, hand penciled and inked. I’ll post a preview image in the following week.

Also it would be awesome if you could post a review on Itunes for the Data Cast! Would help spreading the word.

Okay so I’m sorry for the delay. It really is my fault for being such a lazy bastard with the editing I’ll try to speed it up next time. In my defence editing the two hours of excellence that is DC-19 was hard, especially so when the Olympics are in your city. Anyhow, in this podcast we mostly talk about Battlefield: Bad Company 2, some Mass Effect 2 and a few other games that are WAY old like Halo 3 and Gears of War. Enjoy!

Another week another podcast, but this one is different. Old number 18 here is the debut podcast for Mark and Maurice’s new snowball microphones. I think you’re going to be surprised the quality the recording. On a personally I’m very pound that I managed to guilt them into upgrading. This week’s topics are pretty good, we keep it light on Modern Warfare 2, we talk a little about what we been playing, Maurice and I get into a lengthy discussion on Heavy Rain and much more. We also have a pretty tender news segment which is short and sweet.

A Glance At: Star Trek Online Beta

Alright, had some life stuff that got in the way of editing last week. I want to say that I’m sorry for the delay and it won’t happen again, at least not in the near in the foreseeable future. But regardless of release days I’ll be damned if this isn’t a good one. We talk more about Modern Warfare 2 and our favourite builds, a little about Bayonetta and in the news we discuss some recent developments on motion controls. Also good news on the quality front Maurice and mark both have new microphones, so the next podcast should be the best one yet.
